Haiku

I’m still working my way through the James Bond books by Ian Fleming, which are horrifically sexist and racist by the way, and just got to You Only Live Twice. This one is set in Japan and at one point Bond and a colleague are discussing Haiku verses/poems. It inspired me to have a go myself. You can tell that it’s cold at the moment, and that we’re hoping to get pregant. Need a relaxing holiday too!

Lie on the sofa
Recharge for the year ahead
Why must we work so?

Snug in the bath robe
Come and cuddle with me here
Time to share our warmth

Cold comes through the glass
Heat goes the other way, feel
Now we’re wrapping up

No sign of the cub
Perhaps they will wait for spring
Feels the cold like mum

Mountain paradise
Waits for us with flowers soon
There we will breathe free
